You are entitled to vote for your Local representatives, including your Local Coordinator, Bargaining Unit President, unit representatives and those on committees, such as Health and Safety, Professional Development and Labour-Management.
Members are welcome–and encouraged–to let their name stand for any Local or Bargaining Unit position. Your input is needed!
The following resources will help you learn more about the election process, responsibilities assigned to various positions and opportunities for leadership skill development within the Ontario Nurses' Association.
ONA139 will be merging to ONA55 as of January 1, 2027. With the merging of the two Locals, elections will be held for all Local and Bargaining Unit positions on October 4-9, 2026.
Three-Year Term — January 1st, 2027 until December 31st, 2029
This year we will be holding elections for various positions on our Local/Bargaining Unit team. Check here often as we will post election updates, including our call for nominations, candidate/voting information and election results.

Positions Up for Election
All Local 55 and Bargaining Unit positions are up for election for the 2027–2029 term. Members are encouraged to consider running for a leadership position and helping shape the future of our Local. Specific positions, responsibilities, and nomination requirements will be outlined during the Call for Nominations period.

Should you be interested in running for a position and would like a nomination form or have any questions please contact the Election Committee at ONA55and139elections@ona.org.
Nomination Forms must be FULLY completed and RECEIVED by the Election Committee no later than September 14, 2026 at 4 p.m.
A Ticket of Nominations with resumes of the candidates will be posted by September 24, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Voting will be done electronically, and members will receive their pin to vote via their personal email.
